12 stripped of citizenship file appeals

A GROUP of 12 former citizens whose Bahraini nationalities were revoked three years ago have lodged appeals against their convictions for staying illegally in the country.

Ebrahim Taymour Abdulla Jumaa Karimi, Ibrahim Ghuloom Karrimi, Sayyed Mohammed Ali Al Mousawi, Mohammed Ali Al Musawi, Habeeb Darwish Ghuloom, Sayed Abdulnabi Al Mousawi, Sayeda Mariam Ebrahim, Ibrahim Ghuloom Abbas, Abdulamir Ibrahim Al Mousawi, Ibrahim Khalil Ghuloom, Adnan Ahmed Ali and Mohammed Abed were among 31 Bahrainis stripped of their citizenship in 2012 for undermining state security.

They earlier filed a lawsuit against Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa at the High Administrative Court, but failed in their bid to have their citizenship reinstated and were ordered last October to be deported and pay a BD100 fine each for staying illegally in the country by the Lower Criminal Court.

However, they lodged an appeal against the ruling at the High Criminal Appeals Court, which has adjourned their trial until June 10 for additional documentation to be submitted.
